|Dayton Woman Arrested for Meth Possession
DAYTON, September 14, 2017 - After receiving tips from a neighborhood crime watch group and citizens residing within the apartment complex, the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and the Dayton Police Department began conducting a joint investigation regarding the sale of Methamphetamine from an apartment located at the Cedar Ridge Apartments located within the city limits of Dayton, Texas.
During the course of a lengthy investigation, investigators developed enough probable cause for an affidavit in support of a search warrant which was presented to Liberty County 253rd Judicial District Court Judge Chap Cain.
Judge Cain granted issuance of a search warrant for apartment number 39 located at 1907 North Winfree in Dayton, Texas.
On the evening of Tuesday September 12, 2017 the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable's Office executed the search warrant with the assistance of officers the Dayton Police Department and Liberty County Sheriff's Office.
During the course of the search investigators seized suspected Methamphetamine & paraphernalia suspected for the purpose of using Methamphetamine.
The suspect in this investigation is a 54 year old white female identified as Rita Hutchins Bennett. Bennett was placed into custody and transported to the Liberty County Jail where she remains charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1, within a Drug Free Zone, a Third Degree Felony.
