Man Arrested after Late Night Crash

LIBERTY, July 20, 2017 - On June 30, 2017 at 10:35 PM, an Officer with the Liberty Police Department was responding to a call when he came across a white and blue pickup in the ditch.

The Officer then approached the vehicle and observed two individuals inside. The vehicle was off but had the headlights still on.

The Officer then made contact with the subject that was in the driver seat and identified him by a driver's license as Anthony Ray Walker JR. age 27 of Liberty County. Walker had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and was also unsteady on his feet. The Officer then administered a field sobriety test on Walker, called horizontal gaze and nystagmus. Walker did part of the test and then could not follow instructions.

Due to Walker being intoxicated and having the loss of his normal faculties, he posed a danger to himself and others if left alone. The Officer then placed Walker under arrest for public intoxication. The subject was then transported to the Liberty County Jail.

Walker’s bond was set at $500 dollars.
