Surveillance Yields Drug Arrest
DAYTON, March 2, 2017 - On Thursday February 23, 2017, after receiving tips from citizens in the community, the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office was conducting surveillance on a residence that was reportedly selling narcotics.
During the course of the surveillance, investigators observed a vehicle arrive at the suspected residence, stay a brief time and then depart.
Investigators began to follow the suspect vehicle and began radioing for the assistance of a marked unit to conduct a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle began to leave the city limits of Dayton and then proceeded to Liberty.
Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy Corporal Paul Young heard the radio transmission and conducted a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle in Liberty.
Corporal Young identified the driver as 25 year old Tracy Lynn Woods Jr. and obtained consent to search which revealed approximately 7 Ounces of synthetic marihuana, packaging material and digital scales.
Corporal Young placed Woods under arrest and transported him to the Liberty County Jail for incarceration.
Woods was charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2 or 2A, Four Grams or More but less than 400 Grams, a First Degree Felony. Woods remains incarcerated with bond set at $100,000.00
Constable Thornton stated “This is a good example of what happens when law enforcement agencies come together toward a common goal”. “The assistance from Corporal Young was appreciated and I commend him for being diligent in his duties”.
