Man Arrested after Day of Drinking

LIBERTY, June 8, 2017 - A Liberty Police Officer was dispatched to 509 Ohio St, in reference to a verbal disturbance on May 28, 2017 at 12:28 AM and on arrival, was met in the roadway by one of the participants, a black male, who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, as there was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and person.
The Officer spoke with the black male identified as Karey Joseph Scranton age 51 of Ohio Street in Liberty, then went to speak with the subject's wife, who had called the PD. She stated that, her husband, had been drinking all day, and had been arguing with her since they had been at her sister's house earlier.

Scranton’s wife stated that she did not want any problems from Scranton, at which point, he began to interject and argue with her, loudly, and continued to do so, even after having been warned by the Officer, to the point that he was causing a disturbance again.

Due to the fact that Scranton had been drinking, and the Officer felt that if he left him there, he would constitute a danger to himself or others, he was taken into custody and transported to the county jail.
