Intoxicated Man Arrested on US 90

LIBERTY, July 17, 2017 - On July 2, 2017 around 4:04 PM, an Officer with the Liberty Police Department was monitoring traffic in the 300 block of Hwy 90 when he observed a pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed. (80 mph in a 65 mph zone.)
The Officer then conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of 1450 Hwy 90. The Officer then made contact with the driver and identified him by a TX driver's license as German Mata age 20 of Dayton, TX.

While speaking to the driver the Officer detected an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. The Officer then had the driver exit the vehicle and walk to the back of the vehicle. The Officer then noticed the odor coming from the driver.
The driver had red glassy eyes and appeared to have soiled his pants. The Officer then administered a series of field sobriety test and the driver did poorly on all test. The driver was then placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated.

The driver was then read his statutory warning and the driver agreed to provide a breath sample. The driver was then transported to the jail and a specimen was collected. The breath specimen showed to be 0.141 g/210 L

Mata’s bond was set at $2,500 dollars.
