Self-Dealing by Public Servants
LIBERTY, January 6, 2017 – Item 16 on the Liberty County Agenda for Tuesday’s Commissioners Court meeting identifies an item that without closer inspection may go unnoticed.
The items reads, “DISCUSSION AND TAKE ACTION REGARDING BIDS ON DELINQUENT TAX PROPERTY: BID#1 - JEFF LAMBRIGHT…”
The property in question was seized for back taxes and according to sources the property has someone’s home on it. Where is our Tax Assessor Collector, Ricky Brown of Dayton in all of this? Isn’t he watching out for the best interests of the citizens of Liberty County to insure the public isn’t cheated?
Jeff Lambright is Mayor of the City of Dayton and the property he is bidding on and the bid Liberty County Tax Attorney is recommending to the Commissioners to take is in Dayton.
Jeff Lambright is also an employee of the Liberty County Central Appraisal District who has been recently promoted.
Attorney Mike Fielder is Liberty County Tax Attorney and his firm Fielder, Gunter and Davis is also the City Attorney for the City of Dayton as well as Tax Attorney for the City of Dayton.
According to sources Mr. Lambright’s bid for the property is $22,500 dollars. However, the CAD’s appraised value for the property is $106,820 dollars.
The recent growth in Dayton is both a blessing and curse because growth brings with it the opportunity for more and greater self-dealing and corruption by Pubic Servants sworn to serve the public and instead choose to serve themselves through the positions they hold.
