Alana Inman to speak to Liberty County Genealogical Society

LIBERTY, April 13, 2017 - Alana Inman of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center in Liberty. She will be speaking to the genealogical group on Tuesday, April 18th, at 10:00 pm. The group meets at the Price Daniel Meeting Room behind the Partlow House on Grand Avenue. Members of the public are always welcome to attend the meetings.She will be reporting on the new activities taking place at the Library, as well about the Library becoming a base for microfilms from the Family Research Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. This affords people the ability to check records such as census, marriage & death records, tax rolls and more without having to drive to a dedicated Family Center.

Alana Inman is the manager of the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center, which helps to preserve and make available the history of the ten most southeast counties in Texas.

At the Sam Houston Center in Liberty, Alana is currently managing a variety of projects, including a two million dollar renovation of the buildings and grounds that will include a new exhibit on southeast Texas history in an updated museum space; the online cataloging of the Center’s books and periodicals; the creation of online databases for map and judicial records collections; and the posting of archival finding aids online.
