Accidental Shooting Of Twin Brother

LIBERTY, June 13, 2017 - An attempt to shoot a snake found in a ditch of water on CR 2342 in mid-Liberty County, resulted in a fourteen year old boy accidently shooting his twin brother in the right side of the head with a .22 rifle. At approximately 3:45pm this evening the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting the shooting.

Lead Investigator Deputy John Tucker who received the initial call said that when he arrived, the one brother quickly admitted to the shooting. According to Tucker, the twin said he and his brother saw a snake in the drainage ditch and went into the house and retrieved two .22 caliber rifles. Just as one of the brothers aimed at the snake, the victim suddenly knelt down in between the snake and his brother and was shot approximately ½” above the right ear.

Life Flight was called to the scene and at the time the young man was transported to Herman Hospital he was non-responsive. His present medical condition is unknown and being juveniles, the twin brother’s names are not being released by the Sheriff’s Office.
