Human Remains Found In Liberty County

LIBERTY, May 23, 2017 - Liberty County Sheriff’s Investigators Robert Dunn and Travis Pierce responded to the 1400 block of CR 3737 in north Liberty County when the finding of human remains was reported at approximately 10am this morning. Investigators said the remains appeared to be that of a white male but due to advanced decomposition it was not possible to confirm the identity of the person or if foul play was involved.

The body was located near the end of the county road in a wooded area and appeared to have been there for several days and, perhaps, weeks. A nearby resident of the area found the remains and called the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Investigators are in the process of interviewing residents in the area during this early stage of the investigation in an attempt to determine the identity of the deceased and to establish any sightings anyone may have that would help in clearing up details as to why the man would have been in the wooded area.

Justice of the Peace, Pct. 6, Judge Ralph Fuller ordered an autopsy. Sheriff’s Investigators are asking anyone that may have creditable information of this unknown person’s death to contact them at the Sheriff Office at (936) 336-4500.
