Convenience Store Robbed in Dayton

DAYTON, January 17, 2017 –On Monday January 16th 2017 at approx. 7:30am the Dayton Police Department dispatched officers to 2252 FM 1960 (Westside Grocery) in reference to an armed robbery. When officers arrived they were told by witnesses, two white males entered the store (one with a hand gun) and went behind the counter and took several packs of cigarettes, and all the start up cash out of the register. The two suspects then fled on foot. The officers were able to get a very detailed description of the suspects and broad cast it over the radio the description to other law enforcement officers , who had arrived to assist with the robbery.

A short time later with the help of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, the Texas Department Highway Patrol, and calls from concerned citizens the two suspects were found and arrested on Klemp Road attempting to pay a home owner to either call for a cab company or for the home owner to give them a ride to the next town.
Cann, Alexander a 20 year old W/M of Huffman and 14 year old W/M run away from Huffman were charged with Aggravated Robbery. The officers were able to recover all the money and cigarettes stolen by the suspects along with the firearm used in the robbery.
