Aggravated Robbery, Evading Arrest, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

LIBERTY, April 25, 2017 - On Wednesday, April 25, 2017 at 2:50 am, the Liberty Police Department received a call of vehicle, that crashed into the JJ’s Chevron Convenience store, located at 2770 Hwy. 90, causing damage to the building.  The truck, which was described as a grey truck then fled the scene southbound on FM 563.  It was later determined that the suspects drove through the glass wall on the west side of the building and stole the ATM machine from inside the convenience store.

An officer with the Liberty Police Department along with a deputy from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department were in the area and located two vehicles, one that matched the description of the fleeing vehicle.  The Liberty Officer recognized the grey vehicle, as one that belongs to a friend of his, and since the driver didn’t fit the owner’s description, the officer came to the conclusion that it could possibly have been stolen.  As the officers were attempting to make a traffic stop on these vehicles, both drivers refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.  The second vehicle, a white 2011 Chevrolet pickup was ultimately stopped by the Liberty County Deputy who affected a felony car stop and detained two B/M’s and the B/F driver.  The first vehicle (the vehicle that did the damage at JJ’s continued to flee and eventually crashed out and the B/M driver was taken into custody.  The stolen ATM machine was recovered in the bed of this truck.  All of the subjects are from the Houston area and charges are currently pending.
