|Citizen Tips Lead to Search and Arrest
LIBERTY, August 17, 2017 - After receiving tips from citizens in the community, the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office began conducting an investigation regarding the sale of Methamphetamine at a residence located within the Dayton Oaks Subdivision located off Highway 321 in Dayton, Texas.
During the course of the investigation, a Precinct 4 investigator developed enough probable cause for an affidavit in support of a search warrant which was presented to Liberty County 253rd Judicial District Court Judge Chap Cain.
Judge Cain granted issuance of a search warrant for a residence located at 128 County Road 2339 in Dayton, Texas.
On the evening of Tuesday August 15, 2017 the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable's Office executed the search warrant with the assistance of officers from Liberty County Constable's Precinct 2, Precinct 3 and Precinct 5, along with officers from the Dayton Police Department and Daisetta Police Department.
Upon executing the search warrant, the scope of the investigation was focused on a RV trailer located on the property. It was determined that the RV was in the control of a suspect identified as Craig Howard Castilaw.
During the course of the search investigators seized approximately 9 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, approximately 12 grams of suspected psychedelic mushrooms, approximately 47 grams of suspected Marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, multiple syringes & other paraphernalia suspected for the purpose of injecting Methamphetamine, along with an assortment of glass pipes suspected for the use of Methamphetamine and Marijuana.
Castilaw remains at large and anyone knowing his whereabouts is urged to call law enforcement immediately.
Additionally, Constable Thornton urges all citizens to report any information as soon as possible to law enforcement and reminds them to be patient as some investigations can be lengthy.
