LIBERTY, February 27, 2018 - Due to the current flooding situation along the Trinity River, the Champion Lake Public Use Area on the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge, located at the end of CR 417 about 10 miles south of Dayton, TX is closed until further notice. It is expected to be closed at least one week or until water levels drop below the deck of the fishing pier.

HARDIN - The other day a work crew of City of Liberty employees took a bucket truck to Hardin to eat at the Mexican Restaurant. In the process they drove under the canopy of the restaurant doing considerable damage to the canopy and the bucket truck. According to City Manager Gary Broz this has now become a personnel issue that the City is dealing with and that an adjuster is coming out soon to assess the damage to the bucket truck.
