Temporary Bridge Closure

LIBERTY, November 22, 2015 - A temporary bridge has been in place on County Road 4001 for the past several months as a result of severe flooding that occurred during the summer.

Pct 1 Commissioner Mike McCarty is advising that on Tuesday November 24th at approx. 9 am, this bridge will be removed and an alternate route will be in use while plans to make repairs to the washed out area are generated.

The detour route will be marked with signs and residents in that area will be able to get into and out of their neighborhood using the alternate route.

Power Outage in Liberty

LIBERTY, May 31, 2015 - Around 11:30 PM on Saturday a hit and run accident occurred in the 2500 block of US 90 in the eastbound lanes.

The accident forced one pickup off the road on the southbound side of Highway 90 and the truck struck a telephone pole.

When the truck took out the utility pole it caused a power outage that lasted a considerable time for areas of Liberty basically south of Martin Luther King Drive and along US 90.

Trinity River Current Conditions

LIBERTY, March 15, 2015 - Lake Livingston is continuing to drop and is currently at 132.18 feet or approx 1 foot over pool level. The release at the dam remains at 43,800 cubic feet per second. The river is dropping at Romayor and the current level is 30.99 . The Liberty gauge is at 28.26 and is showing a very slow drop. Moss Bluff is currently at 13.93 and the good news is that the National Weather Service has lowered the expected crest to 14.1 feet, down from the 15.1 feet that was previously predicted. Crest expected sometime tomorrow.
